Running Wild "A-Z"
Может кто не знает.
1. the "gates to purgatory" cover
the man on the cover is manfred brünning, a friend of the band from the early days. you might ask the question: what the hell is he welding there? the answer is: it's a safe. the safe was originally standing in the office of the father of hasche's girlfriend, and it had been damaged by burglars (!).
2. rolf's first guitar
rolf sold his model-railway to get the money for his first guitar. it was no gibson explorer yet, it was a herti (german department store) guitar and cost 98dm (about 50€).
3. the making-of the band running wild
originally, rolf played together with uwe bending (g) in a band named GRANITE HEART. hasche and matthias kaufmann (b) played in a band called GROBER UNFUG (engl: complete nonsense). the four of them got together and played their first gig in 1978 in a school, still under the name granite heart. 1982 the name was changed to running wild. it was a democratic decision, but rolf's suggestion was a different one: BLACK DEMON (!).
4. gtp tombola
for the release of rw's debut, there was a small tobola, and the winner got a bag assembled by preacher, which included some useful items: an lp, some stickers, a drawing by preacher, a bottle of beer etc. the see-through bag was labelled "HM emergency case".
5. axel morgan
axel morgan came to the band through his contacts to AC. it was said that axel morgan was a descendant of the famous pirate henry morgen, but of course this was just a promotion gag.
6. rw's first record contract
the german label NOISE signed running wild back in 1983. the contract was signed outside the band's rehearsal room on top of a garbage-bin (!).
7. drums on port royal
the drums on port royal were played by stefan schwarzmann, who also participated in the songwriting (lyrics of raging fire, warchild, mutiny + calico jack). before the release of the album he left the band to join u.d.o. that's why the backcover shows a picture of iain finlay, but the painting on the frontcover still includes stefan (left). on the "welcome to port royal" tour, however, jörg michael replaced the injured iain finlay, who merely spit fire on stage.
8. highland glory
the instrumental on "death or glory" was not only co-written by jens becker and iain finlay, iain also played some of the guitars on this song!
9. death or glory video
the video is only about 40 minutes long, so it doesn't include the whole set that was played that evening (17 oct 1989) in düsseldorf, germany. some essential songs were cut from the video version, for example "chains and leather", "wild animal", "port royal", "genghis khan", "raise your fist" and iains solo. what a shame, i would have loved to hear these songs instead of (imho) mediocre stuff like "raging fire" or "raw ride".
10. ready for boarding locations
at the beginning you hear rolf's announcement "hello munich, how do you feel?" some of the songs, however, were not recorded in munich (9 nov 1987) but in bochum (2 nov 1987).
11. rolf's birthday
rolf was born on 1 july 1961.
12. rolf as a producer
rolf produced the album "angel on the run" by the czech band KREYSON (1990), and he also contributed some guitar lines and backing vocals. a better known band produced by rolf is KELLEY WILD (germany).
13. spoken word passages
the intro of "under jolly roger" was spoken by rolf. he says: "ship ahoi! three-master bill off the starboard bow! man the cannons! fire!" the intro of "treasure island" was also spoken by rolf himself, while the outro of "uaschitschun" was spoken by an american studio assistant.
14. running wild pizza
a restaurant in switzerland used to have a special "pizza running wild" with tomatoes, mushrooms and spicy herbs. the chef's son was a fan-club member.

А "дикое животное" вообще никак нельзя было вырезать...Ну что за хрень?!...
). И выходит, что Ready for Boarding записывался в Германии, а не в Венгрии, хотя в буклете столько упоминаний и благодарностей именно к венгерским концертам.
